UF VPN

Most users can use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to encrypt communication while using an untrusted network. This shields the data transmitted from malicious actors by routing all internet traffic from your device through an encrypted “tunnel” that other devices cannot see inside of.

UF offers the GatorLink VPN Service, which allows you to access the internal UF Network while you are physically off-site. The GatorLink VPN should be used while traveling abroad to protect the data on your device. For more information on VPN and to download the UF VPN software, visit this link.

Several third-parties offer commercial VPN software which should not be used for UF business, but can be used to protect your personal internet traffic while connected to otherwise insecure networks. Make sure to do your research and choose a trustworthy vendor; since the VPN provider at the other end of the encrypted “tunnel” will be able to see your internet traffic!
